Ruaa Centre Oversees Awareness Lecture on Marine Turtle Conservation at Khalid bin Al-Walid School
With the support and supervision of the Ruaa Centre for Strategic Studies, Consultancy, and Training, and with funding from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the Small Grants Program (SGP) as part of the project “Save the Marine Turtles in the Gulf of Aden,” the Wildlife and Marine Turtle Protection Association in the Khor Omaira Reserve organized an awareness activity on Sunday for the male and female students of Khalid bin Al-Walid Primary School.
The activity, which comes as part of the association’s ongoing efforts to promote environmental awareness, focused on delivering a comprehensive lecture on the importance of marine turtles and their vital role in protecting the marine ecosystem. It also highlighted the importance of preserving coral reefs as a fundamental pillar for maintaining the natural balance of the oceans, while explaining how the deterioration of the marine environment directly affects human health and the safety of coastal communities.
The event also included a campaign of awareness posters to reinforce environmental messages directed at students, aiming to instill values of environmental responsibility in the younger generation. The association expressed its appreciation to the administration of Khalid bin Al-Walid School for its cooperation and active participation in implementing the activity.
Fathi Abdullah Sweid, Secretary-General of the Wildlife and Marine Turtle Protection Association, affirmed that these activities fall within the association’s vision to raise environmental awareness among students, emphasizing the importance of strengthening community partnerships to protect marine turtles and the coastal environment in the Khor Omaira Reserve.
