18th September 2024

Dr. Jacqueline Mansour Al-Batani, Director of Ruaa Centre for Strategic Studies, Consultation and Training, met with Mr. Niazi Mustafa, Acting Director of Aden's Environmental Protection Office, on Sunday to discuss collaborative efforts to protect sea turtles in Aden Gulf.

The meeting built upon Ruaa Centre's recent sea turtle conservation awareness campaign, emphasizing community education, interagency cooperation and the vital role sea turtles play in maintaining ecosystem balance.

"Protecting sea turtles is crucial for preserving regional biodiversity," Dr. Al-Batani emphasized. "We appreciate Mr. Mustafa's commitment to collaboration and look forward to continued partnership."

The meeting key points were about:

1. Issuing directives to prevent sea turtle hunting and trade among restaurants, pharmacies, police stations and relevant authorities.
2. Implementation prior to the breeding and nesting season.
3. Enhanced community awareness and education initiatives.

Ruaa Center reaffirms its dedication to environmental conservation and sea turtle protection through strategic partnerships and community engagement.
