Media Students in Aden Take Part in Sea Turtle Conservation Campaign Supervised by Ruaa Centre
Aden – Centre Media
Ruaa Centre for Strategic Studies, Consultancy and Training carried out an awareness campaign on Wednesday targeting students of the Faculty of Media at the University of Aden. The campaign included the distribution of brochures and the placement of educational posters on protecting sea turtles, as part of the activities of the “Save Sea Turtles in the Gulf of Aden” project funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the Small Grants Programme (SGP).
Supervised by the Ruaa Centre team, the campaign aims to enhance environmental awareness among media students and engage them in spreading project messages within the campus and surrounding areas. The posters feature guidelines on sea turtle protection, ways to reduce harmful practices that threaten nesting sites in the Gulf of Aden, and legal information relevant to their protection.
Ruaa Centre’s team affirmed that the involvement of media students in this initiative reflects the pivotal role of media in promoting environmental awareness, noting that youth engagement is a key element in supporting conservation initiatives and fostering a culture of environmental respect.
The team further emphasized that the posters were designed to be simplified and easy to understand, covering essential information about sea turtles, including the threats they face and ways individuals can contribute to safeguarding coastal ecosystems.
The campaign received wide interaction from students, who expressed their willingness to participate in future initiatives and stressed the importance of media in highlighting environmental risks and showcasing community efforts to protect marine life in the Gulf of Aden.
This activity comes as part of a series of field initiatives implemented by Ruaa Centre in cooperation with academic and community institutions, aimed at promoting environmental awareness and reinforcing shared responsibility in protecting sea turtles and other endangered species.
