Ruaa Centre Conducts Field Visit to Greenhouses as Part of Climate Adaptation Program in Abyan
Ruaa Centre for Strategic Studies, Consultation, and Training conducted a field visit on Wednesday to a number of agricultural greenhouses in Abyan governorate. This visit falls within the activities of the training course "From Vulnerability to Resilience: Training Community Female Leaders to Lead Climate Adaptation in Abyan," which the Centre is implementing with support from the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Berghof Foundation and under the supervision of the Political Development Forum.
During the visit, the team from Ruaa Centre and the course participants reviewed models of agricultural greenhouses. They learned about the mechanisms of agricultural adaptation to climate change and how these greenhouses contribute to reducing water consumption and improving production quality, in addition to their role in enhancing food security and combating the effects of climate change in local communities.
The team and the participants also listened to explanations from farmers about their experience with farming inside greenhouses, the challenges they face, such as high temperatures and changing agricultural seasons, and ways to overcome them through the use of modern agricultural techniques.
Dr. Jaklin Mansoor Al-Batani, the head of the Centre, clarified that this field visit is part of the practical component of the training program, which aims to link the theoretical concepts covered in the course with real-world experiences in the field. She indicated that field activities contribute to raising the efficiency of community female leaders and enabling them to lead local environmental and climate initiatives.
The participants expressed their happiness with this practical experience, which gave them the opportunity to learn about the actual applications of sustainable agricultural adaptation, affirming their desire to transfer this expertise to their rural communities to contribute to enhancing environmental and climate awareness.
