Ruaa Centre Meets with Environmental Authorities to Protect Sea Turtles
Dr. Jacqueline Mansour Al-Batani, Director of Ruaa Centre for Strategic Studies, Consulting and Training, met with Abdul Salam Al-Jaabi, Deputy Chairman of the General Authority for Environmental Protection, and Fathi Al-Sawo, Director of the Environmental Office in Lahj Governorate. The meeting aimed to discuss cooperation in protecting sea turtles in Khor Amira and Aden Gulf.
Dr. Al-Batani emphasized the importance of safeguarding sea turtles, citing their vital role in marine biodiversity. She noted Aden Gulf's significance as a breeding ground and stressed the necessity of protection.
Al-Jaabi reaffirmed the General Authority's commitment to protecting sea turtles, highlighting ongoing programs and projects. He emphasized the crucial role civil society plays in raising awareness and supporting conservation efforts.
Al-Sawo discussed challenges facing sea turtle protection in Lahj, including overfishing and environmental pollution.
The meeting concluded with agreement on collaborative efforts to enhance sea turtle conservation in Khor Omira and Aden Gulf.
